Celery and Tomato Meat Sauce

Although this is credited to a Hazan, I am afraid when looking for the right Hazan, I came across this recipe by his mother and had to make it. I don't usually use celery in my sauces although, I have used them as a minor player, on occasion. Celery is a vegetable that I THINK, I don't like. How does one think such a think but it not be true? I have been trying to figure this out, for year, with no success. In a recipe, I see the word, celery and I am about to remove it from the picture.
