Mixed Greens and Apple Cider Vinaigrette

It is that time again ------ Secret Recipe Club Reveal for Group B.  We have seen, over the years, many groups start and many have not been able to continue for lack of participation.  The SRC has not had that problem.  They went from a once a month group to four monthly groups on each of the Mondays of the months.  

What is the secret to this group's success?  There are two answers to that.  Heather started this whole thing with organization and lots of hard work.  I believe it is that organization that has kept it going.  April  took it over and continues both the organization and hard work.  If there was a third reason, it would be communication.  Notifications are timely and questions are answered.

 This month Flavors by Four is my secret blog to make a dish from.  I have enjoyed this blog, for a while.  It is written by a mother-daughter team and I think that is a wonderful activity for family to share in.  Obviously, both are good cooks and they have some colorful photos and appealing recipes, on their blog.

I was looking for a salad and there are many there that call my name.  I could make most of them and be happy.  I chose this mixed greens because, we happen to have a lot of greens, presently, to use.



Mixed Greens and Apple Cider Vinaigrette

Dressing:

1/2 Cup  Olive Oil
1/3 Cup  Apple Cider Vinegar
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 teapoon Worcestershire Sauce

Salad:

1 Bag Mixed Greens
14oz  Can of Mandarin Orange in Water
1 Cup Golden Raisins
2/3 Cup Slivered Almonds

 Method:  

Mix together greens, drained mandarin oranges, raisins and almonds - a heavenly combination.

Take all dressing ingredients and place in a container with a top that seals so you can mix this up before using.

Pour apple cider vinegar, followed by oil into container. They will separate making two different levels.
Add the Worcestershire Sauce and the sugar.

With a spoon mix the dressing for 30-45 seconds and everything will combine together nicely.   Store extra dressing in the refrigerator.

I think, this dressing would go well on almost any salad.  Just give a good mix and pour on salad.  If it has congealed after being refrigerated, place in microwave for a few seconds until you can mix into one dressing, again.

    I've been so into salads during the heat wave, and I love the raisins and almonds in this mixture. I've never actually used apple cider vinegar in a salad dressing, but I know how healthy it for you, so I'm definitely going to try this dressing too.
