Cantaloupe Cake

Image
What do you do when you have leftover blueberries and cantaloupe?  My answer would be, make a fruit salad.  That sounded like a wonderful idea so I did a search for cantaloupe recipes.  Why, I did not search for a cantaloupe fruit salad is beyond me.  Cantaloupe recipes brought all kinds of interesting combinations for a variety of different presentations. The minute, I saw cantaloupe cake, I knew what I was doing.  I am sure, this leaves you, scratching your head.  Is it just me, or have you heard or eaten a cantaloupe baked good?  If not, it is time to try something new. Bake with Bizzy

With the extra baking for my grandchildren's visit, I have done a lot of fun baking.  Chocolate baking is when they visit since hubby does not like chocolate.  I baked brownies, cupcakes and mini-bundts.  I have some blueberries to use up, necessitating my next bake.  I am going to see if I can find some new blueberry recipes from you guys or maybe inspiration for another adult dessert for the adults, at this party. We decided to have a Wild Card for this week's Ina Garden.  Since my granddaughter will be celebrating her birthday, at our home, I decided to make mini bundts.  She is only turning one so small cakes sounds appropriate.  I have decorated each of them differently. S'Mores Brownies Secret Recipe Surprise

Image
Those who belong to the Secret Recipe Club  have a lot of fun.  I know that, each month, I look forward to finding out who my secret blogger is.  Then, there is the experience of exploring a new blog or one we have visited.  Most of us face a bit of frustration trying to narrow down all the recipes to just one.   I would be very disappointed if I didn't find one waiting for me, when the reveal came about. One blogger did not find any post for her, this month. Many of us felt badly about this, knowing how much fun, it is to see what someone has done to one of our recipes as well as what the blogger selected.  Our dear organizer, Amanda came up with a wonderful idea and asked us, if we had time, with about 18 hours left, to make something from the blog, Connors' Cooking . I guessed that there would be something baked on that blog and I accepted the challenge.  My grandchildren are coming over and I had planned to bake for them, today.  Why...

Pea and Tomato Salad

Image
Salads can be a cinch to make and they can be complicated.  For me, it normally, makes no sense to put extra effort into a salad unless it is the main dish.  One can make a tasty and attractive salad with only a few ingredients.  I find that tomatoes bring color to the greens of a salad so I like to include them when they are from the garden and have the real flavor comes through. This is an example of a green and red salad that can have as little or as much heat, as your would like.  You can also add any vegetables, you see fit to add. Pea and Tomato Salad - Adapted from All Recipes Ingredients: 10 cherry tomatoes 1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese 1 teaspoon sugar 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon dried basil 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1 1/2 cups shredded lettuce Method: In a small bowl, combine the tomatoes and peas.  In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine...

My secret recipe partner, Michele from Makin' Cakin' Weekends , happened to be one of the first people I met, when I started blogging.  She has changed the name of her blog since the and I didn't realize who she was, until I saw Paula Deen, all over her blog.  She had  organized the Paula Deen group that I had joined, almost three years ago.  Each week, we cooked glorious recipes from Paula. I was excited to have someone I know as my partner for this endeavor.  I know how beautifully Michele bakes so I had a gut feeling, I was going to select something baked and I did.  I am sure Michele doesn't know how m...
